"Change is about interrupting the habits and patterns that no longer serve us" -- Dr. Edith Eger
I understand that finding a therapist is difficult and that not every therapist will be a good fit for you. I hope that by learning more about me and the type of clients I support you can make a decision to see whether or not I am a good fit for you.
Who I help
The clients that I work well with and have had success with are those that are ready to start making changes. They are committed to investing in getting unstuck and ready to cultivate new healthy habits. Therapy is not easy and though I wish I had a magic wand to make all your troubles disappear, I will do my best to support you in this process.
I specialize in working with adults and young adults who are struggling with past trauma, anxiety, and relationship issues to find healthy ways to cope and process past experiences. Many of my clients come to therapy because they are having challenges in their relationships, they are having difficulties focusing on school/work, they are struggling with trusting others, feeling sad and irritable, and experiencing anxiety.
At times, clients are unaware that these issues may be due to past trauma. Trauma is an experience or event that may cause confusion, anxiety, numbness, stress, anger, distrust, fear, and other emotional responses. Trauma may impact your day-to-day life.
I offer therapy for individuals who want to learn new skills to manage life stressors and set healthier boundaries.
I also work with individuals who identify as LGBTQ+ and are having difficulties in their relationships and struggling to be their authentic selves.
If you're struggling with any of these things, schedule a free phone consultation.
My Approach
My goals are to support you, hold space for you and help you be present in your life. I use different interventions in therapy and sometimes integrate mindfulness and meditation because it can be helpful to slow things down to give you a moment to feel some peace. I like to create a safe and welcoming environment where we can work together to create change. Together, we can work on developing a plan that works best for you to help you achieve your goals. We can identify challenges that have impacted you, learn to heal and move forward stronger, healthier and more confident. With the new tools you learn in therapy and new insight, you can start to make changes and enjoy your life.
About
I’m a bilingual therapist and co-founder of Primavera Counseling. I am a queer, Mexican immigrant therapist that understands the difficulties of navigating life while shaping our identities. Through personal experience, I have learned how helpful it can be to have someone along the way to validate our experiences and support our healing. Therapy can be a place where we uncover your potential and make sense of things. I am trauma informed and certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy and use a strength-based approach to help you live the life you deserve to live.
