You're keeping it together. You show up for work, for your family, for everyone who needs you. But underneath that, something feels off — a heaviness you can't quite name, a tension that doesn't go away, reactions that catch you off guard. You know something is wrong, but you can't always trace it back to why.
That's often how trauma works. It doesn't always look like a crisis. Sometimes it looks like being tired all the time, feeling disconnected from the people you love, or wondering why certain situations hit harder than they should.
At Primavera Counseling, we work with adults who are carrying more than they realize. You don't have to have a clear story or the right words. You just have to be willing to show up.
Past traumatic and disturbing experiences can impact our day to day functioning. We may find ourselves feeling more irritable, having anger outbursts, or experiencing challenges in our relationships. We might also feel shame, guilt, or even have nightmares about these experiences. We can help you explore these difficult experiences and make sense of them in a way that no longer feels overwhelming.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a therapy designed specifically for trauma. It works by helping your brain finish processing experiences that got stuck. And here's the thing, it works even when you don't fully understand why you feel the way you do.
You won't need to retell your story in detail. EMDR doesn't ask you to relive what happened. Instead, it helps your nervous system do what it was always trying to do. Move through it.
Our EMDR-certified therapist offers sessions in English and Spanish.
When something painful or frightening happens, our brain sometimes doesn't get the chance to fully process it. The memory gets stuck and stuck memories can keep showing up in our body, our mood, and our relationships long after the event is over.
EMDR helps the brain finish what it started. Using bilateral stimulation, typically guided eye movements, it allows the brain to reprocess those stuck memories so they no longer feel as overwhelming or disruptive. Think of it as a reset. Not erasing what happened, but changing the way it lives in you.
We know EMDR can sound a little strange at first. It's okay to be skeptical. Many of our clients come in curious but unsure and leave surprised by how much shifted. The good news is that you don't have to fully understand it for it to work, and you won't have to retell your story in detail to get there.
You don't have to have it all figured out before reaching out. That's what the first conversation is for.
